Gateway Cosmetology Department Offers Service to Public

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) —The public is invited to make appointments for hair-styling, nail and spa services by students in the Cosmetology Department at Gateway Community and Technical College.

Appointments are available Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Appointments for chemical services, such as perms and color, end at 1 p.m. Prices vary by service but generally range from less than $10 for a haircut to $45 and up for color correction services.

FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) - The City of Florence Planning and Zoning Committee take up a recommendation to consider a series of zoning text amendments to Articles 10, 11, and 40 of the Boone County Zoning Regulations to define and permit “fireworks retail sales” in the C-3, C-4, I-1, and I-2 zones at their meeting at 10:00 a.m.

Postal Service Greeting Card Business Expanding

CINCINNATI, OH — Electronic greetings, such as ecards, emails and text messages, may be growing in popularity, but nothing can replace the “mail moment” a person experiences when they receive a greeting card or letter in the mail.

The U.S. Postal Service is making it easier for busy consumers to buy, address and mail a greeting card while conducting Postal Business at more than 2,000 locations nationwide, including three new locations in Cincinnati: Main Post Office, 1623 Dalton Ave.; Madeira Branch, 7737 Laurel Ave.; Symmes Branch, 9370 Fields Ertle Road

The greeting card assortment at participating postal units includes cards for birthdays, wedding anniversaries, graduation, baby announcements, encouragement and sympathy.

WALTON, KY (FOX19)- The City of Walton, KY will have their first Community Yard Sale tomorrow (Saturday) July 30 from 9am to 3pm. 

No Permit is required for this event. Anyone who would like to join in can call Mayor Carlisle before 9am Saturday at (859) 540-6262 for a location to set up.

New lottery game ends first run at Noon Friday

LEXINGTON, KY (FOX19) - The newest Kentucky Lottery game ends Friday, and one big winner will get half the sales from the game.

Appropriately named the “Kentucky Lottery 50/50 Split the Pot Raffle”, the game went on sale May 13. “It plays just like the split the pot raffles that have been around forever,” said the Kentucky Lottery’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Steve Casebeer. “It’s a simple game – one winner takes half the pot, and it’s unlike anything we’ve ever offered.”

Sales of the $10 game will end at noon Friday (June 10), and a winning six digit number will be drawn in the afternoon.

Players can check the current pot amount at the lottery’s website (kylottery.com), as well as at retail locations.

Kohl's "re-Grand Opening" is Wednesday

FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) - Kohl’s will hold the re-grand opening of its Florence store on Wednesday, showing off the store's new look.

New features and store enhancements include redesigned Home and Junior’s departments, updated Children’s, Jewelry and Shoe departments, updated fitting rooms, and new merchandise displays to highlight trends.

There will also be updated customer service desk and check-out stations, and updated restrooms for enhanced comfort and convenience.

Kohl's executives will be there for the ribbon cutting.  As a company, Kohl’s continues to invest in its existing store base, giving customers a fresh exciting shopping experience. This year, Kohl’s will remodel approximately 100 stores nationwide, an 18 percent increase from 2010.

The store is at 61 Spiral Drive.
