Florence United Methodist “Book Give Away” | Schools

FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) - Florence Elementary has many community friends in the area working together to make a difference in the young lives at our school.  For many years the Florence United Methodist Church boxed up books to distribute to every child in the building from day care, to pre-school, to kindergarten, and first through fifth graders.

The Methodist group diligently strives to place a current book in the hands of every child at their individual reading level.  The excitement of receiving a book to keep and take home makes the students feel special and eager to read.

The Methodist group started this program eleven years ago and is now serving five Boone county schools;   Kelly Elementary, Ockerman Elementary, Burlington Elementary, Collins Elementary and Florence Elementary.

This simple act of kindness has made a huge impact on our students and all the students in the county that received their thoughtful gifts.
