Florence Elementary raising awareness of animal cruelty in our county | Schools
FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) - Did you know that animal cruelty is a serious problem in our county? Everyday animals suffer because there is no one to take care of them. When the 5th graders at Florence Elementary learned about this problem, they wanted to make a difference. Through research, raising awareness, and collecting donations, they were able to become heroes for animals in need.
First, students selected a rescue mission they wanted to support. The next step was to conduct research in order to raise awareness in the community and decide a course of action. Students wrote letters, created presentations and posters, held a fundraiser where they shared their knowledge and collected donations. Overall, the project was a great success.
We raised $145 to donate to ASPCA, The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. In addition; beds, food, toys, and other supplies were donated to the Boone County Animal Shelter. The letters along with the power point presentations shown to both the student’s classmates and parents were instrumental in raising awareness, and moving people to donate to help stop animal cruelty.
