Turfway Park’s first chaplain is returning to the racetrack to once again serve as chaplain. Rev. Doug Eldridge served as chaplain 37-years ago after graduating from Cincinnati Christian University in 1978.

Eldridge has served as pastorate at Antioch Church of Christ in Corinth, KY., pastor of Belleview Church of Christ, and pastor of Hebron Church of Christ. He volunteers as Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport’s public safety chaplain and Hebron Fire Department chaplain.

Eldridge will be replacing Bobby Aldridge as chaplain and will be holding services at the track at 7 p.m. on Mondays.

The Ministry also includes the community center which provides clothing, towels, sheets, personal care items as well as coffee and conversations to backside workers. Eldridge will meet with backside workers in the barns daily also.

Doug Pelfrey kicked-off state testing at Florence Elementary

To kick-off State testing, Doug Pelfrey, a top student, top athlete, and top businessman, spoke to the students of Florence Elementary.  Mr. Pelfrey was a former kicker for the Cincinnati Bengals.

In order for Mr. Pelfrey to become successful he had to prepare himself physically and mentally by going to bed on time, starting his day with a nutritious breakfast, and not over thinking life just do your best every day.

The entire school was involved in the testing process starting with the primary students who played the big brother or big sister role and became the cheerleaders for the intermediate students cheering them on.  They made posters and provided treats to encourage them during testing.
