FLORENCE, KY (FOX19)- Hundreds roller skated for a good cause on Monday.
The FunDome in Florence donated $1 per skater to the Northern Kentucky 9/11 Memorial fund.
On display was a 200 pound twisted and melted I-beam from Ground Zero at the World Trade Center site in New York City. More than 10,000 agencies applied to receive an artifact, and this is one of the 1,000 made available for distribution to the public.
The steal beam will be incorporated into the Northern Kentucky 9/11 Memorial, which will be built next to the Veteran's Memorial in Crescent Springs.
"We were all affected on 9/11. We're affected every single day, and not everybody can go to New York to heal and to reflect, so that's one of the reasons why we want to have the Northern Kentucky 9/11 memorial," said Ric Robinson, an NKY 9/11 committee member.
