FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) -- Crews battled a house fire in Florence on Thursday morning.
The fire broke out just before 6:30 a.m. on Manderlay Drive off of Dixie Highway.
Callers to 911 advised that there was a large fire in the rear of the house. Arriving companies were met with heavy fire and smoke coming from the rear of the house and attic area.
An initial attack was made on the interior, but worsening conditions forced crews to withdraw fight the fire defensively. The fire was extinguished within 20 minutes of arrival, but crews remained on scene for 2 hours to extinguish hot spots.
Two people in the home were able to make it out safely.
No injuries are being reported.
The fire is believed to have started on the exterior of the home in the area of a rear deck and extended into the attic. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
