WALTON, KY (FOX19) - Today, eleven-year-old Malia Heck of Hebron is healthy and happy, something she was not at the age of two when she was diagnosed with a cancer called intramedullary astrocytoma, or a spinal cord tumor.  After surgery and treatment, Malia luckily went into remission.  But, inspired by her struggles, the challenges of other children in the country with the same tumor, and the lack of research and development in this field of cancer her parents, Dan and Kara Heck, founded Malia’s CORD Foundation.
