Florence Verizon retail store receives LEED certification | Environment

FLORENCE, KY (FOX19)  - The recently opened “evolution” communications store in Florence, KY is now one of more than 100 Verizon Wireless retail stores nationwide to have received Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) certification from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).

The Communications Store with LEED certification, located at 7533 Mall Road, optimizes water and energy use, enhances indoor environmental quality and reduces waste through specifications and responsible procurement and construction practices, including energy savings, material reuse, phone recycling and paperless billing.

Each LEED-certified Verizon Wireless Communications Store is expected to deliver, on average, the following environmental benefits and associated cost savings:

-         12,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year energy savings from lighting, equivalent to the CO2 emissions from the consumption of 972 gallons

-         28,000 gallons of water per year, equivalent to 455,000 glasses of water

-         28 tons of construction waste diverted from landfills, equivalent to 14 cars
