Gateway to Host International Conference on the Future of Manufacturing

COVINGTON, KY (September 13, 2012) – Gateway Community and Technical College and the Trans-Atlantic Technology and Training Alliance (TA3) will host an international conference on “The Future of Manufacturing: Implications for Education and Training.”

The conference, to be held Oct. 1-2 at Covington’s Embassy Suites hotel,  is expected to attract participants from eight U.S. states and five European countries, including Denmark, Finland, Germany, Northern Ireland, and Spain. Internationally known speakers will examine emerging  trends in manufacturing production, technology, employment and the education required for manufacturing economies to be competitive and sustainable.

Mazak receives Greater Cincinnati International Trade Award

FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) - The Northern Kentucky International Trade Association, a program of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, recently awarded a Florence area company with a 2012 Greater Cincinnati International Trade Award.

The machine tool manufacturer Mazak Corporation was recongnized as a champion in the area of global commerce.  

The Northern Kentucky International Trade Association presented the award to members of the Mazak team during the association's Merx International Best Practices Summit on August 9, which included interactive discussions between international executives, business leaders and global leaders on best practices for navigating through the global marketplace.

Gateway Offers Achieve Global Leadership Series in October

Florence, Ky. (Aug. 21, 2012) – Gateway Community and Technical College is accepting registrations for a three-module course in Achieve Global Leadership Skills in October.

The series includes Principles and Qualities of Genuine Leadership, Wednesday, Oct. 3; Listening in a Hectic World, Wednesday, Oct. 17; and Hallmarks of Supervisory Success, Wednesday, Oct. 24. Each of the four-hour, stand-alone modules costs $99. The classes will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the Classroom/Training Building at Gateway’s Boone Campus, 500 Technology Way, Florence.

Achieve Global seminars are designed to provide development in interpersonal business skills and leadership development that enables companies to produce tangible results. The Gateway-provided series focuses on developing leadership skills, listening skills that improve decision-making, and helping people transition into supervisory roles.

Covington, Ky. (Aug. 21, 2012) – Gateway Community and Technical College offers career and transfer education to prepare people for jobs in all of the region’s fastest-growing and highest-paying fields, and Gateway is accepting students now for fall terms that begin Sept. 10, Sept. 17, and Oct. 10.

According to a recently released report on the job outlook for 2020 in the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky region, 90 percent of the jobs paying above $33,130 a year will require some combination of post-secondary education, on-the-job training, and/or more than a year’s work experience.

The report, produced in collaboration by Vision 2015 and Agenda 360, shows that healthcare, education, business, finance and technology are the top five fastest-growing and best-paying fields for the future, with production occupations in the sixth spot.

Quaker Steak & Lube in Florence hiring over 200 workers

FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) - The third loctaion in the Tri-State for a restaurant that blends automobiles with food is hiring over 200 workers.

Quaker Steak & Lube is about one month away from opening their newest store in Florence, KY. They are in the process of interviewing and hiring the entire staff. Managers will be hiring around  210 full and part time workers.

Currently there is a Quaker Steak and Lube in Milford and Colerain. The newest location sits directly below the Florence Y'ALL water tower on I-75.

Upgrade computer skills in fall classes at Gateway

FLORENCE, KY  – Gateway Community and Technical College is offering a variety of non-credit computer courses to help you learn or upgrade computer skills.

Microsoft Excel Level 1 will be offered Sept. 10, 12, 17, and 19 at a course cost of $99. Registration deadline is Sept. 4.

Microsoft Excel Level 2 will be taught Oct. 8, 10, 15 and 17 at a course cost of $99. Registration deadline is Oct. 1.

Microsoft Word Level 1 will be offered Nov. 5, 7, 12 and 14 at a course cost of $99. Registration deadline is Oct. 29.

All courses are offered on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 9 p.m.
