RABBIT HASH, KY (FOX19) - A new creative collective has sprouted out of Northern Kentucky called Folksiders.
Folksiders is a consortium of artists, musicians, crafters, bakers, dealers, designers, and finders. cofounders Susan Utley and Jarrod Becker wanted to take their lifestyle and love for beauty found in wonderful, wild, old and interesting things and turn it into something they could share through an art market experience. They have gathered a core of creative folk and will be featuring them along with a monthly group of selected artisans to feature their food, findings and wares.
There will be booths scattered throughout the little river town featuring homemade and handcrafted items of pottery, jewelry, fine art, paper items, and delectable fare along with live music and antiques.
Folksiders are artisans, craftspeople, musicians, history buffs, writers, culinary enthusiasts, antique dealers, junk collectors and or anyone with a keen eye and a love for art, found objects, fun fare, forgotten treasures, handmade items, fine design, coupled with an avoidance of the mundane.
The Folksiders Market is held every second Sunday of the month from 11 a.m.to 4 p.m. The remaining days for the Market are August 12, September 9, October 14, November 11, and December 9.
The theme for August 12 is RED HOT! Folksiders vendors will feature their art, food, junk, kitsche, and craft that has a bit of fire behind it whether it be color, look, flavor, or feel.
Rabbit Hash is on the Ohio River in northern KY in western Boone County. From I-75, take the Mt Zion Road exit (178). Go West on Mt Zion Road. At US 42, Mt. Zion Road turns into Hathaway Road (KY 536). Keep going straight. This road (KY 536) eventually becomes Rabbit Hash Road. It then intersects with East Bend Road (KY 338) and Rabbit Hash Hill Road. Take Rabbit Hash Hill Road down toward the River where it intersects with Lower River Road. Take the left fork which crosses a little bridge to get to the General Store. Distance from the Interstate is approximately 16 miles. There will be no parking in the downtown vicinity of Rabbit Hash during Folksider Markets, follow signs to designated parking areas.
