9th Annual Artist Showcase...and Sale...at Boone County Public Library | Arts & Culture

BURLINGTON, KY (FOX19) - It’s time for the 9th Annual Artist Showcase at Boone County Public Library. Each year, talented artists from around the area come together to display artwork in a variety of mediums - from watercolor to woodcarving and pottery to printmaking. New this year, artists will be selling their work during the event. This is a great time to buy a one-of-a-kind gift for that special someone before the holiday rush.

The opening reception for the show will be Friday, December 9, at 6 p.m. at the Main Library, 1786 Burlington Pike, Burlington. Featuring refreshments provided by the Boone County Visual Arts Association and music from WGP Jazz trio, the evening will be filled with creative art, tasty treats, good conversation, and lively music.

The show continues from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 10. At 2 p.m., this year’s featured artist, Bill Brown, will share the secrets behind his art. Bill works in a number of media, including graphite, watercolors, oils and acrylics. He paints landscapes and also specializes in custom portraiture.  Bill is self-taught and has studied the methods of the “old masters.”

Of course the creative fun doesn’t end with the Artist Showcase. This event serves as an unofficial kickoff to three months worth of arts and crafts programs at all Boone County Public Library locations. From how-to classes on crochet and wood-carving to painting and photography, there is a workshop for everyone at the Library.
