FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) - Party Town will welcome Keith Klein as their Artist in Residence at their Spring Wine & Art Show, from 3 to 6 p.m. on March 31st.

Keith Klein is amazingly diverse, with styles that range from classical realism, plein air landscapes and classical portraiture to bright and colorful works that have their roots in impressionism and pointillism. He studied with Anneleise Wharenberg in an "Atelier" in Walton, Kentucky. He felt that her method of demonstrating a painting technique as he watched was the very best way to learn. He carries on the same tradition in his studio in Florence, Kentucky. His "Atelier" is housed in the former Florence Deposit Bank on Main Street.

Sound of Taiko drumming to fill the air at the Boone County Library

Sound of Taiko drumming to fill the air at the Boone County Library

BURLINGTON, KY (FOX19) - Cincinnati-Dayton Taiko Drum Group will appear at the Boone County Main Library, 1786 Burlington Pike on Friday, March 23, at 7 p.m., for a “trip to the other side of the globe”.

This group’s goal is to share the ancient art of Japanese Taiko drumming - an art form that began as accompaniment to folk dances.  In Japan, the huge Taiko drums are traditionally made out of a single hollowed log, which requires a staggering investment of time to craft.  American groups typically play a modified version of these drums made from oak barrels.

You’re invited to come learn much more about these fascinating instruments and hear the wonderful sounds that they can create.  The coordinated movements required to play them are a dance in their own right and make for a visually fantastic show as well.
