Kid's on the pumpkin

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, BUTLER COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - The fall drought has hurt the plants at some farm festivals in the Tri-State, but the one at the Niederman Family Farm is still chugging along.

Seven-year-old Zac Fey of Fairfield Township is shown visiting the farm with his family this weekend. His mother Joy Mitchell-Fey says they had a lot of fun, and really enjoyed the corn maze.  The farm also offers a chance to meet farm animals and eat fall food treats.

Some corn mazes in the region have been canceled after the corn crop was stunted because of the drought, and some farms have lost their pumpkin crops. Others like this one have been able to remain open.

Got fines? Get amnesty at the Boone County Public Library

BURLINGTON, KY (FOX19) -  Boone County Public Library is getting serious about collecting overdue fines and they’re giving their customers plenty of notice. Currently, the name of anyone who owes $50 or more is sent to a collection agency. Beginning January 1, the names of people who owe $25 or more will also be sent to the collection agency.

The library is announcing this new policy in October to give customers plenty of notice. Letters will be sent in November to the people who owe between $25 and $49.99 asking them to clear their accounts so they won’t be sent to the collection agency. To make things even easier for customers who owe fines, the library will be offering an amnesty program in December.

“Our December amnesty program is an effort to recover missing materials and at the same time, help customers clear the fines from their accounts,” said Public Service Coordinator Carrie Herrmann.
