Chili’s Grill & Bar opens in Florence

FLORENCE,KY (FOX19)- ERJ Dining, LLC dba Chili’s® Grill & Bar is putting the final touches to open the highly anticipated restaurant at 5000 Houston Road in Florence, KY.

“We are very excited to bring the Chili’s quality, menu variety and value to the Florence area with a beautiful new restaurant”, states Greg Cloud, Regional Director of Operations of ERJ Dining, LLC based in Louisville, KY. The restaurant will open Monday, November 22 at 11:00 AM with a ribbon cutting ceremony scheduled with the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce at 10:30 AM. The new restaurant will employ 65 local residents.

Man stabbed during road rage incident

FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) - Police are looking for a suspect who stabbed a man in the back during a road rage incident in Florence.

It happened Wednesday, Nov. 10 at about 6:20 p.m. at the intersection of East Mount Zion Road and U.S. 25.

Police say Anthony Miracle, 42 of Independence, Ky. and another man were stopped and out of their cars arguing when a struggle ensued and Miracle was stabbed in the back.  Miracle was transported to University Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio where he was treated and released days later. 

The suspect fled the area north on Dixie Highway toward Florence.

Bus Drivers Appreciation Breakfast held at Florence Elementary

The “wheels” on the bus deliver our kids safe and sound every day to and from Florence Elementary.  At the annual Bus Driver Appreciation Breakfast the preschoolers, kindergartners, and first graders made cards and posters as part of a service learning project.

The Boone County bus drivers, bus aids, and bus garage staff were invited to Florence Elementary for a hot breakfast of eggs, biscuits and gravy, and oatmeal.

A few of Mrs. Rollins first graders offered their services by handing out spoons, napkins, salt, and extra milk.

Ohio National Guard members set to deploy

FAIRFIELD, OH (FOX19) - Members of the Ohio National Guard participated in a call to duty ceremony Friday as they prepare to go overseas.

About 25 soldiers from the Radar Detachment, 1st Battalion, 174th Air Defense Artillery Regiment are headed to Iraq in support of Operation New Dawn.

The detachment will provide short-range air defense radar coverage and early warning for forward operating bases and strategic locations in Iraq. They will detect potential aerial threats as well as potential mortar, artillery and rocket attacks.

The ceremony was held Friday morning at Tri-County Assembly of God.

Holiday celebration in Florence

FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) - The City of Florence will hold its annual Christmas Tree Lighting on Tuesday, December 7 from 6-8pm at the Florence Government Center 8100 Ewing Boulevard.

The free event will include: Christmas activities conducted by City businesses and organizations; Christmas music performed by the Florence Community Band and Florence Community Chorus; Decorated Christmas Trees; Photographs with Santa Claus; Refreshments; Sleigh rides; and much more!

I-71 NB roadway rehabilitation project - 55 MPH speed limit and double fine zone enforced

I-71 NB (59.7 – 77.7 mile-marker) - The asphalt overlay roadway rehabilitation project on I-71 has begun on the northbound side.  The 18-mile section goes from the I-71/I-75 interchange to the vicinity of the Sparta Exit 57 (77.7 – 59.7 mile marker).   The rehab project will include addressing base failures (potholes and ruts), repairing three slide areas and installing guardrail at various locations.  Message boards will warn motorists of the work zone and lane closures.   The speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph during the construction and a double fine zone will be in enforced when workers are present and signs are posted.

Crews have begun work will continue as weather allows.  There will be no work during the 2010 holidays.  The project will be complete by Nov. 30, 2011.
