Businessman pitching BMX course for Northern Ky.

FLORENCE, Ky. (AP) - The backer of a proposed BMX course in northern Kentucky said the facility would potentially draw people from the state and region.

Clay Ammon, owner of Ammon Outdoor Design in Burlington, pitched the project to the Florence City Council last month and met with city officials again this week to discuss the idea of the course near the Florence/Boone County Skate Park.

Gary Aragon, chief executive officer of National Bicycling League, said the BMX racing community is growing rapidly and there aren't enough courses to accommodate the interest in the sport. "There is a whole community of BMXers just dying for a place to race," Aragon told the Florence City Council at a recent meeting, according to The Kentucky Enquirer.

The course would take only a few months to construct.
